PGV Jar-Top: Maximum Convenience, Reliability, Ease of Service in a Residential Valve

Now it’s possible to service a Hunter valve without using any tools to gain access to the inner workings of the product. With the new "jar-top" design of the Hunter PGV – the latest addition to Hunter’s most popular valve line – all it takes is a simple twist of the wrist to unscrew the top of the valve. Product maintenance has never been easier!

Best of all, to get this new-found simplicity, you don’t have to give up quality or performance. These valves boast enough features to handle the demands of whatever your site has to offer.

Of course, the key feature – what gives the valve its name – is the "jar-top" bonnet. The jar-top is exactly what it says, a bonnet that can be opened and closed in the same manner as a food jar that you might find in your kitchen cabinet. You simply screw it on and screw it off by hand; no tools are necessary.

The PGV Jar-Top valve is constructed with parts common to other Hunter valves. For example, the diaphragm is interchangeable with PGV, SRV and Pro-ASV series 1" valves. And, the solenoid is compatible with all Hunter plastic valves. Replacement parts can be easily accessed from product to product.

There are numerous different models to choose from, each with a different configuration to handle the many different types of installations that vary from region to region (all models are available with or without flow control):

  1. Threaded – 1" threaded inlet and outlet
  2. Slip – for direct, leak-free solvent weld connections to 1" PVC pipe
  3. Male x Barb – for use with polyethlene piping systems (requires fewer fittings and allows faster installation); choice of 1" or 1 1/4" barb outlets for compatibility with different systems
  4. Male x Male – for use with 1" “union style” manifold tees for quick installation

All models feature durable, high-grade, corrosion and UV-resistant PVC construction and a rugged double-beaded, leak-proof diaphragm with support to prevent stress failure. Plus, the PGV Jar-Top has a fully-encapsulated solenoid that provides your guarantee of reliable operation time after time.
