PGV: The Proven Valve Solution for All Residential Instalação Situations

Is your mainline 1" or 2"? Do you use PVC pipe or poly? Are you installing on a small landscape or a large expanse of land?

PGV Valves are Great for any Residential SiteHave we got a valve for you!

Yes, that’s right; a valve. No need to compare and contrast different valves to see what features you have to give up in order to get the valve that fits your installation requirements. Simply choose PGV. With this offering from Hunter it’s possible to receive the same high level of performance and great line up of features no matter what kind of landscape you have.

That means the guy who installs to a deep mainline doesn’t have to sacrifice features because his installation is "different." And the contractor who requires a male x male thread on his valve can get the same great product that would normally be available only in the more popular female x female thread version.

The one thing that truly sets Hunter PGV apart from other valves on the market is that there are so many different models available. And one of them is sure to be just right for the particular landscape and installation style that you have.

Different Versions, Same Great Valve

"Why PGV? Because we know that we can count on a Hunter valve," said Brad Sayre of West County Sprinklers in Valley Park, Missouri. "PGV is a reliable product, easy to service and it has the Hunter name to stand behind it."

Hunter has designed PGV in a wide array of different configurations. But, these are not different valves, mind you. These are the same great valves – a PGV – that have simply been made to meet different needs.

The most popular PGV model is the standard female-thread 1" globe. Available with or without flow control, this is the version that sees the most widespread use on most residential installations.

"Our systems use PVC pipe and Hunter offers a slip x slip valve that glues directly in place, without need for special fittings," said John Orefice of Landscape Management in the Portland (Oregon) suburb of Vancouver, Washington. "For a professional-grade valve, there’s nothing better out there than PGV."

The Answer for Deep Main Lines

The PGV Jar-Top Makes Maintenance Easy! The 1" angle model of the PGV enables the installer to place the valve on top of a deep main line, allowing easy access to the valve for maintenance. The lower pressure loss across the valve provides a big advantage on systems that may experience low operating pressures.

"In areas where the ground freezes in the winter, the common practice is to bury mainlines pretty deep," said Jeff Kremicki, product manager for Hunter valves. "That’s why people like to use angle valves. They choose PGV because of the Hunter quality and the fact it saves time and money on installation."

The PGV angle is available with or without flow control.

Poly Pipe? No Extra Fittings Needed!

"We install with poly pipe," said Mark Whitworth of Northern Mist Lawn Sprinkler in Burlington, Wisconsin. "The male x barb PGV helps cut down on the number of parts we have to use for installation, plus it’s so easy to get in the valve box."

The barbed outlet has been designed specifically for those regions where the preferred mode of installation is to use poly pipe. Hunter has developed several different sizes of barb outlets with a 1" male thread connection at one end and a choice of 3/4", 1" or 1 1/4" barb connection at the other. The valves are available either with or without flow control.

With the male x barb models, the time-saving benefits are substantial. There’s no need to thread male poly adapters or nipples wrapped with Teflon tape into the valve in order to attach to poly pipe.

The male x male version is ideal for use with new "union style" manifold tees, like those offered by Dura Plastics and other brands. This version of the PGV is also available with or without flow control.

Nothing is Easier to Access

Hunter recently introduced yet another version of the PGV – a "jar top" version. Unlike the traditional bonnet that requires a screwdriver for opening to gain access to the inner workings of the valve, the PGV Jar-Top simply unscrews in the same manner as a jar that one might find in a kitchen cabinet.

"Our company switched over to the PGV as soon as the product hit the market," said Adam Urbanowicz of A & C Lawn Maintenance in Toms River, New Jersey. "Then, when the Jar-Top versions came out we made those our exclusive buy. They’re so easy to use."

All the product features and the performance quality are exactly the same as every other PGV valve, only the bonnet design is different. Plus the PGV Jar-Top parts are compatible with other PGV models.

The PGV Jar-Top is available in 1" female threaded, 1" slip x slip, 1" male x barb (choice of 3/4", 1" or 1 1/4" barb), and 1" male x male. All of these models are available either with or without flow control.

Larger Pipes, Larger Flows

Hunter even has PGV models that are designed for use on larger landscapes. The 1 1/2" and 2" globe/angle combination valves area available in either NPT or BSP threads and both sizes feature adjustable flow control with a non-rising handle so the valve can be placed closer to the valve box lid for easy servicing. If you’re curious about just how big a system these valves can handle, keep in mind that irrigation systems running up to 120 gpm per zone will be well within the 2" valve’s design capabilities.

Whatever PGV you choose, you’ll get the same great quality and, hopefully, the same results as Tony Neumann of Sprinkler Solutions in Scottsdale, Arizona.

"Deciding to use PGV has proven to be a great call," said Neumann. "The product is virtually hassle free since it’s so easy to install and worry free because it’s so reliable. Maintenance is unnecessary."
