HSBE: Innovative Design Makes Spiral Barb Elbow Easiest to Use
The new HSBE is easier to insert into tubing. The leading competitor has a large “barb” on the lead-in portion of their fitting, then spiral barbs behind it which “screw” the fitting into the tubing. The problem with this design is the large barb at the beginning – it’s hard to get the fitting inserted into the tubing. With the new HSBE, the lead-in is very easy to install. Once the fitting is inserted, the large, sharp barb at the back of the fitting is what creates the seal as it bites into the tubing. This barb may look small, but it’s very strong. In tests at Hunter’s on-site lab, the HSBE popped out of the tubing at an average of 408 psi (the competition popped out at an average of 406 psi, thus making the HSBE equal or better). The HSBE fittings have a flat “thread stop” design at its base. This stops the sprinkler from being turned too far onto the fitting, yet is tight enough to seal the threads, allowing ample clearance for the tubing on the fitting. Both models of the Hunter Spiral Barb Elbows are now available and are designed for use with all brands of tubing. The part number is HSBE-050 for the 1/2" version and HSBE-075 for the 3/4". Stop by your local authorized Hunter distributor and pick some up for your next job that requires flex pipe and see how easy the HSBE is to use! |
