Connecting Hunter’s New Sistema ET to a Hunter Controller
Mount the ET module on the wall within six feet of the host controller. The module is lightweight and requires only two screws to mount. The ET module has a hardwired “umbilical cord” with six conductors: three for the SmartPort connection, two more for the ET sensor connection, and an additional one for use with ICR or SRR receivers. Connect to the controller like a typical SmartPort connection (red wire to AC1, white wire to AC2, and blue to REM). Mount the ET sensor on a pole or 4x4 post in full sunlight, in an area typical of the irrigated landscape, and within 100 feet of the ET module and host controller. Ideally, this would be about six feet above ground, with 15 feet of clearance on all sides. If a pole or post mount is impractical, the ET sensor can be mounted on a wall or eave, but with some loss of accuracy. Make sure it at least receives full sunlight during the warmest hours of the day. The ET sensor should be placed where it will experience the same climatological conditions as the landscape, including unrestricted sunlight, wind, and rainfall. Individual zones are adjusted for their shade and other factors, but the Sistema ET needs the “big picture.” The only connections between the sensor and module are two standard 18AWG sprinkler wires (much like wiring for a solenoid). Color-coding is green/black, and there are no specific twist or shielding requirements. |
