Residential Controladores: Understanding Error Messages

Controller Error MessageUnderstanding an "error" message while installing or servicing any one of Hunter’s residential controllers is simple, because the protocol is the same for all models whether it’s an SRC, Pro-C, ICC, or even the new XC. The "Err" readout, preceded by a ‘P’ or numeral, always means there is an electrical overload on that particular circuit.

A "P Err" readout means there is an overload in the pump/master valve circuit. A readout of "1 Err" means there is an overload in station No. 1, while "2 Err" means an overload in station No. 2 and so on, depending on the number of total stations being operated by the controller.

An overload occurs when the wiring circuit is requiring more than .56 amps of current. This overload will typically occur when the field wiring or valve solenoid is shorted, or if the field wiring is a smaller gauge than required for the application and/or distance.
